Basic Skills for Meeting Mushrooms with Charlie Aller

We will discuss basic identification skills for fungi that are rooted in our powers of observation. In the process we will learn new vocabulary and important details that can clue us into the correct identification, with a focus on what we can observe in the field and how to apply it when using resources like books, websites, and social media. After a short presentation covering the step-by-step process, we will head out for a walk and put our skills to use!

Registration is required. Class fee is a Sliding Scale of $15-$45.

Please bring water bottles, weather-appropriate attire, brown bag lunch and snacks if needed.

Charlie (aka Charliceps) is a lover of mushrooms and an independent researcher of fungal roles in local ecosystems. He co-founded Mush Luv in 2017 with Nina O'Malley, and together they have worked to bring native fungi into the food, medicine, and awareness of their community. He now works full-time at Farfields Farm generating fungal growth, research, and educational opportunities.
